Rokan Hulu Journey

Hello friends!

This is my experience visiting my parent's hometown, which is Rokan Hulu. It is one of the regency in Riau Province, Indonesia. Without further ado, let's start the journey!!

   

Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport is where the journey started, it took about an hour flight to get there from Batam. But that’s not it, i have to take another 4 hours trip to go to Rokan Hulu. Sari Kencana bus is the common transportation for it, it only cost Rp 75.000 per person.

During the bus trip I enjoy the scenery. Rokan Hulu is a big land surrounded by rivers and palm oil plantation. There are a lot of nature attractions here like waterfall and river. They also have an iconic and well-known mosque. Here are some places that i recommend:

1.  Masjid Agung Madani Islamic Center

Masjid Agung Madani Islamic Center is one of the biggest mosques in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. It is said that it can accommodate 20.000 peoples. This mosque has a modern style combined with Arabic architectural styles with a large dome, it reminds people with Masjid Nabawi. It also has a tower with 99 meter length, it has a philosophy that symbolizes the number of Asmaul Husna. From the top of the tower, visitors can be enchanted by the beauty of the Pasir Pengaraian City scenery. This place requires visitor to wear hijab and proper outfit.

2.  Aek Milas Pawan

This is the most famous nature hot spring in Rokan Hulu. The first time you enter the hot spring tourist area, you will be treated to a cool atmosphere that emerges from the forest and tall trees around the tourist area. Then you will see pools of various sizes filled with hot water with varying temperatures. The hot water then flows into a shallow river for people to enjoy. It is a relaxing vacation spot for family.

3.  Goa Huta Sikapir

This magnificent nature is located not far away from aek milas pawan, approximately 1 kilometer. Within this 6 hectare forest area, there are 41 large and small caves. Each cave has a name according to the condition of the cave. Some of the names of the caves in the Sikafir Cave are: Gua Mata Dewa, Gua Penjara Bawah Tanah, Gua Pelangi, Gua Lepong, Gua Batu Bergantung, Gua Batu Bulan, Gua Kelinci, Gua Lorong Tembus, Gua Gasing, Gua Lorong Tupai, and Gua Lorong Marmut.

Restaurant Recommendation

Pondok Angin Marombus is a restaurant that served homemade traditional food. It's located in Menaming Village. They served tasty and savory food with a great scenery. The restaurant is built on top of a lake, so visitor can also try fishing there.

Overall, i have tons of fun travelling here. For everyone who planning to go there i suggest you to wear comfortable and thin layered clothes because the weather is quite hot.
